Power Play: Growing Relationship Chapter 2

Written By Proto

Chapter 2: First Date

Mai paced back and forth in her small apartment. She glanced up periodically to look at herself in the mirror and then back down at the floor. She had the day off and never saw the need to get dressed, so she wandered the apartment in a fitted but old grey shirt and her green panties. Thoughts and worries filled her head like a schizophrenic conversation. "Why hasn't she called yet? Because it's only been a day since you gave her your number, spaz. Breathe. No! She hates me. I know it. What if I called her? With what number, genius? Well I could look her up in the phonebook! How many April…s could there be in there? A lot. OH I'll hire a private eye and HE'LL find her FOR ME. Damn you're good. Really? Not even a little." The battle raged on with no end in sight when suddenly her phone began singing into the silence "I was so happy when you smi-". Before the song could even finish the first line, Mai had hurled herself over the couch, tripped on her own feet and crashed to the ground but her hand managed to find the phone on the table high above her. Slowly she brought the receiver to her ear

"H…hello?" she almost whispered nervously. "Mai, it's ya muddah! Where have ya been?" Mai gave her phone a confused look before shaking her head "Sorry mom, I gotta go!" She could hear her mother's Chicago accent stuttering in confusion as she was cut off. The red head sighed and put her phone down on the table again. She sat back against the thick wooden leg of the table and stretched her bare legs out across the old beige carpet her apartment was filled with. She looked down and imagined the individual tufts of carpet as buildings surrounding what would be her enormous frame. She had continued to have dreams of growth and they still filled her mind with curiosity, and more importantly, lust for it. She dragged her leg over the would-be buildings and watched them bend over with ease, tickling the underside of her leg. Her phone again rang snapping her from her daydream, this time irritatingly so. She leaned back smacking the back of her head against the table with a thud she grimaced and reached up for her phone. She flipped it open with an aggravated sigh "Look, I'm REALLY busy right now so could ya just call back some other time?!" she barked into the phone. A vaguely recognize, yet instantly familiar, voice answered back, "Oh…I'm sorry I didn't mean to interrupt. I'll just call back. Sorry…" Mai, realizing it was not her mother on the phone once again instantly jumped into backpedaling mode and apologized profusely. "No no no no noNO! I'M the one who should apologize. I thought it was someone else calling. See my mom keeps calling me and I just tho-yeah never mind. Let me start over. This is Mai, may I ask who this is?" The answer came and it was what she had been waiting and dreading for hours to hear.

"Oh I'm sorry, it's April!" she response came back in a happy voice. Mai's heart leapt into her throat with such force she tried to stand up and smashed her head against the table, knocking her back to the ground in a heap. April looked curiously at her phone as she heard the crash and subsequent mumbles, grumbles and pants as her red headed friend tried to gather herself once again. Mai rubbed her head and shot her table a look that would kill had its target not been inanimate. She crawled forward to escape repeating the accident and lay sprawled on the carpet. "Sorry about that, April. The table attacked me brutally. You should've seen it! That thing had some moves, I tell ya." April laughed at the joke and Mai felt a little better already. The two sat on opposite ends of the phone chatting for a minutes on end. Small talk, at first but it steadily shifted into subjects of note. "I've always hated the rules about when is too soon to call or when is too late." April started, "I wanted to run home and call you yesterday but didn't wanna look like freak calling you that soon then I didn't want to seem uninterested and wait that BS 3 days." Mai laughed and nodded her head along, "Right? I wanted you to call too! I wasn't like pacing around the phone back and forth or anything, ya know, weird like that." April giggled "No, never. So…what are you doing…say…tonight? Around-" April began. Mai's eyes lit up and she responded "Nothing! I'm free tonight" April smiled into her phone, "I didn't even say a time yet, silly. Are you sure?" "Try me." Mai responded confidently. April paused for a moment, "How aboooooouuuut an hour from now?" Mai leapt up from the ground and looked around panicked. "An hour? Sure! Yeah an hour is perfect! Where do you wanna meet?" After a few minutes of all around indecision they decided to meet at a coffee shop that she didn't work at and they hung up. Mai dashed like a mad woman into the shower and washed faster than she thought possible before leaping out of the shower and into a towel. The next test was even more challenging. The outfit. Her little black dress? She didn't have much a figure but the dress was definitely the most stunning outfit in her closet. But this is just coffee on a first date. Is this a date? Fine, no dress. How about chucks, jeans and a t shirt. Too casual? I don't wanna look like I don't care either…Then she saw it. Her yellow long sleeve v neck shirt and the "nice" jeans she saves for special occasions. In a flash she put the outfit on and strapped on her bra with the most padding and flew out the door in a red headed flash.

She waited at the coffee shop alone for a few minutes pondering how the night would go. She decided to be proactive and order them drinks. After all she knew April's order, it was simple enough. She got to the front and ordered one plain coffee and an iced coffee blend for herself. She waited anxiously for the barista to fill the order. She watched the woman fumble around behind the counter. Mai shook her head she mentally corrected every error the worker performed. A few moments later the order was ready and Mai collected it with a sigh and went to the side to add sugar and creamer. Mai recalled April saying the morning was "too early" for sugar. Perhaps she'd be okay with it now. Mai added a few packets of sugar and creamer to the coffee lightening its complexion considerably. She turned and took a seat by the window to wait for her raven haired date. She sipped lightly at her coffee blend when she was caught off guard by a hand touching the chair in front of her. Mai glanced up to see a young woman with short black hair and sky blue eyes standing over her. "Is this seat taken?" April asked with a warm smile. Mai, choking on her drink tried not to spit it out all over April's black v neck. She nodded profusely and motioned for April to sit down. She sat down and they smiled at one another silently. Mai struggling for something to say began, "I got you a coffee, and I remembered you like coffee, so I got you one!" April blushed and laid her dainty hand on the cup, "Thank you, Mai. That was sweet of you" she began to raise the cup to her mouth when Mai remembered, "It does have sugar in it though. I thought now that it wasn't morning you could be okay with it?"

April's eyes shot open and she slowly lowered the drink away from her lips, "We'll save that for a little later then. If I drink that now, I'll be…all over the place" she finished with a smile. Mai began to apologize but April waved it aside. "I do like sugar. A lot in fact, but like I said, later." April reached her hand out and placed it on Mai's. The green eyed red head's gaze shifted up to April and their eyes met. The bustling coffee shop suddenly seemed silent as their gaze deepened. The two began to lean forward, toward each other. April became starkly aware of how welcoming Mai's lips looked. They had only just met, but both of them felt a strange connection, like they knew each other already. Like something deeper. Mai's hand turned over to hold April's as Mai's thumb caressed the top of her hand. April's skin was like silk, so soft and cool to the touch. Mai stared deep into April's eyes and saw the most beautiful sights imaginable. A thousand glittering stars shimmered in her soft blue eyes, galaxies worth of glittering wrapped in her breathtaking irises. Their lips were getting closer to one another, slowly being drawn together by a magnetism neither had ever felt before. Mai could feel April's warm breath on her lips. Mai's eyes closed and their lips finally met. April's lips were soft and warm pressed against her own. April's hand wrapped tighter around Mai's as their fingers interlaced with each other. They broke away from each other for a moment and made eye contact. Confusion and passion filled both their eyes. Their soft lips collided once again as their hands clutched each other tightly. They started to stand to lean forward more in their seats. Mai could feel heat building under her collar. What was wrong with her? An hour into their first date and already making out at the table? She couldn't explain it, but it somehow felt...right. Like they knew each other already, as if they were long lost lovers finally reunited. Again they broke away from the kiss and sat back down. They exchanged looks and nervous laughs.

"I've never…I'm so sorry. That was too fast," Mai began, "I don't know what came over me. I just…you're so beautiful…and I…"April reached across the table and rested a finger on Mai's lips. "You're amazing. That's what you are. I kissed you just as much as you kissed me. Now stop apologizing." She looked around the shop then down at her drink, "What do you say we get outta here? This coffee is gonna be pretty bad if I don't get it to a microwave, soon."  "My place is a few blocks away," Mai offered, "care to join me for some reheated coffee?"  April responded with a smile as she grabbed her bag.

The two left the coffee house and walked under the soft moonlight to Mai's apartment. They stole glances at each other the whole walk there. April walked intentionally in stride with Mai, trying to brush hands together. The two finally reached Mai's apartment building and entered the creaky old elevator. Mai pressed the button for her floor and as the door closed glued herself to April, kissing once again passionately. April, caught off guard, nearly dropped her coffee but happily kissed back, both women blushing. The elevator came to stop with a jolt and the ladies separated and straightened themselves for the doors opening. Mai stepped out first and led the way to her apartment. Once inside the two left their jackets on the rack and entered the kitchen. "I can warm up that coffee if you want!" Mai extended her hand. April smiled and accepted handing the cup to Mai. She put it in the microwave for a few seconds to warm it up and turned to sit with April at her dining table. "So this is the table that attacked you earlier?" April asked with a twinkle in her eye, "You're right. It looks brutal." Mai shrugged embarrassedly and rubbed the bump on the back of her head. The microwave dinged and Mai leapt up to grab the coffee out of it. She handed the steaming cup to her date when she asked "Mai, sweetie, do you have any more sugar?" Mai nodded "Of course!" and opened the cupboard to a small jar full of the white powder. She placed it on the table and sat back down. April's face suddenly became very serious and she took a deep breath. "Now what you're about to see may…scare you, a bit. But trust me, it's perfectly fine. Mai shifted confusedly in her seat, "…Okay?" was all she could respond.

April silently added a few more lumps of sugar to her coffee and took a sip. She closed her eyes and a strange smile came across her face. She took another drink of coffee, this time a deeper swill. Slowly she placed the cup down in front of her and leaned back in her chair. Mai watched on, not sure what to expect. She couldn't help but let her eyes wander up and down April's small but lovely frame. She was shorter and smaller than Mai but her breasts were definitely nice to look at. Wait. Breasts? Mai thought to herself, "I remember her being on the smaller side like me. But those are definitely bigger." She continued to ponder the thought as she stared into April's cleavage. For a moment she could have sworn she heard a faint moan escape April's parted lips. Mai rubbed her eyes and couldn't believe it. For sure now, April's breasts were bigger than before. Her cleavage deeper more pronounced in her black v neck. She watched on with intense interest as she could in fact see April's bust increasing. She gasped in disbelief as her date's bosom began to overflow from the top of her shirt. April's hands rose to her chest as she began to knead herself softly, panting quietly as she did. After a few more moments, April opened her eyes and exhaled heavily. "I always hate to stop so soon," she said with a sigh. Her gaze shifted to Mai who was staring in literal slack jawed disbelief. "Okay I warned you, so don't freak out" she began, starting to panic herself. Mai slowly shook her head, "I'm not freaking out. That was…amazing. How do you…? Why does…? Where? Okay less where but more HOW?" Mai's questions flew out a million miles an hour. She reached forward and grabbed the cup of coffee and eyed it suspiciously, "Is it the coffee? If it is I'm sooo stealing that recipe." She said still eyeing the liquid.

April laughed and brought the coffee out of Mai's hand. "It's not the coffee, it's me. I can…alter things. My appearance namely, and sugar is just a helpful catalyst, we'll say" Mai was once again dumbstruck. She could barely imagine such things were possible in her dreams much less in real life and so matter of fact. The lack of hesitation and ease of which April said it was equally shocking. "How long have you been able to do that?" April waved her hand, "the logistics are far less important right now. The important question is, are you okay with…me?" April asked. For the first time since they met, she looked vulnerable. Scared. Mai stared back unblinkingly and stood up from the table. She took a deep breath and a step forward; she ran her hand along the side of April's face and leaned down. Slowly their lips journeyed towards each other once again. Mai paused just before they touched, "I wouldn't change you for the universe, dear" and they kissed once again. April paused between smooches and said with a smile, "I may just hold you to that one day."
